ClipBro — Privacy Policy

ClipBro ("the extension", "we") is a browser extension that records your browser tab or screen and lets you instantly save the last few seconds, plus full recordings. This policy explains exactly what data is and isn't handled.

The short version

• Your recordings never leave your computer. Video is captured and saved locally to your Downloads folder. We do not upload, store, view, or transmit your recordings.
• We only handle a small amount of data, and only if you choose to buy Pro.
• We do not sell your data, and we show no ads.

What the extension stores on your device

• Recordings — saved as files to your computer's Downloads folder. They stay on your device.
• Settings — your preferences (quality, format, buffer length, etc.) are stored locally in the browser.
• A random device ID — a randomly generated identifier kept locally to link your Pro subscription to this installation. It contains no personal information.

What we process if you subscribe to Pro

Payment is handled entirely by PayPal. We never see or store your card or bank details. When you subscribe, our backend receives and stores, solely to provide and verify your subscription:

• your email address (the one you enter at checkout),
• your PayPal subscription ID and its status (active/cancelled),
• your random device ID.

We use this only to confirm whether your installation should have Pro features, and to let you view or cancel your subscription. We do not use it for marketing.

Browser permissions and why we need them

• tabCapture / offscreen — to record the current tab and process the video.
• downloads — to save your recordings to your computer.
• storage — to remember your settings and license locally.
• activeTab / scripting / host access — to show the small on-page "recording" indicator and the "saved" notice, and to start capture on the page you choose.
• notifications — to confirm when a clip is saved or Pro is unlocked.
• alarms — to periodically re-check your subscription status.

Host access is used only for the on-page indicators and to talk to our own license server. We do not read or collect the content of the websites you visit.

Who we share data with

• PayPal — processes your payment and subscription. See PayPal's privacy policy.
• Cloudflare — hosts our license server and checkout page. Standard request logs may apply.

That's it. We do not sell or rent your data to anyone.

Data retention

We keep your subscription record for as long as your subscription exists (and a short period afterward for accounting). You can cancel anytime from the extension's Settings or from your PayPal account. To request deletion of your subscription record, contact us.

Children

ClipBro is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their data.

Changes

We may update this policy; material changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date above.
